Rack units set the front plate height. 1U = 44.45 mm; a panel is 0.794 mm shorter so it clears the panel above and below.
Strip of solid plastic kept along the top and bottom edges of the plate. Honeycomb venting stops at it, and fans or device openings that cross it are flagged. The left and right edges are governed by Usable width below, not by this. The dashed blue rectangle in the 3D view is the area it leaves.
Nothing is cut into the plate yet, so this has nothing to constrain — the outline moves but the part does not. Pick a front style below to see it bite.
